The format supports up to 8 bits per pixel for each image, allowing a single image to reference its own palette of up to 256 different colors chosen from the 24-bit RGB color space. It also supports animations and allows a separate palette of up to 256 colors for each frame. These palette limitations make the GIF format unsuitable for reproducing color photographs and other images with continuous color, but it is well-suited for simpler images such as graphics or logos with solid areas of color.
If we did not have any Gif's how would we be able to make cool stuff.
On Tuesday night's episode of "Jeopardy!," the smartest man on television, Alex Trebek, officially announced something many of us already knew to be true: "GIF" is meant to be pronounced with a soft G
Here's the question, which was the episode's "Final Jeopardy!" clue:

All of the contestants got the question right.
No, I don't care that it sounds like the peanut butter. It's the way the photo format's inventor says it's supposed to be pronounced. Plus, now that Trebek has uttered the word with the soft "G," it has to be correct. As the description on the video above states, "There can be no higher authority."

I think the GIF of the two cats are very cute. I never knew that GIFs were good for simple pictures. It was also nice to know that there is a palette limitation.

ReplyDeleteThat GIF is so cute! Just imagine the nyan cat song being played in the background. And I see the irony in the Please leave a comment GIF. (It was being a GIF that was ironic)
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! I love the spinning microphone too. It was a nice touch.

ReplyDeleteI actually saw that episode. The funny thing was that earlier that week, I told my parents that it was pronounced that way, and they didn't believe me. When they saw that episode, it blew them away. It's great that even more people can be proven wrong now!
